It has been an honor to pray and watch what the Lord has done this year in the family of Somebody Cares. We count it a privilege to be included in any small way we can.
Love you all so much

Love you all so much! This year has been a tough one, but how Faithful God is. I love hearing the voice of victory through your words! This verse popped into my head just now, "Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good" Rom 12:21

Karl, thank you for publishing Menia's touching and inspiring story. Her courage and desire to help her people in the face of her own illness are truly amazing. I am praying that the Lord will continue to prosper and comfort her as she ministers to and educates those in her care.

Thank you for keeping us aware of what is happening in the world. Having recently been ill myself, and having a very dear friend coming faithfully every day to help me, it makes me very thankful for Ellen who faithfully tends to Felesita daily. I pray that God abundantly blesses them both in every way!

Thank you for keeping us updated through your website. It is a blessing to know so many people are being cared for and that many of the caregivers are former patients. My heart goes out to Felesita, especially since she has no family. Thank you Lord for the love Ellen is sharing with her. I will pray for both of them.

I recently did some work on care for the caregivers with home based care workers in Knysna, South Africa. I think vicarious trauma is one of the key issues that we have to consider in building sustainable home-based care systems. The study was a comparative outcome study with 40 careworkers. It clearly shows that some kinds of care (body based techniques, psychosocial training, and individual counselling) are helpful while others are not (drumming and group debriefing/counselling). The work also demonstrates the importance of differentiating between vicarious trauma/compassion fatigue and burnout. For the whole report and other details looks at www.craighigsonsmith.com.

Charlene,
I know that you were a blessing to those in Mgona. They are the people forgotten by everyone but Jesus and you became his hands and feet when you prayed with them.
